It is a special interest area of physiotherapy aiming to improve bladder, bowel and reproductive health and related pelvic floor muscle control.

more confidence in self management skills and ability, knowing what to do and what�s not helpful
increased preparedness for test or surgical procedures should they be required
better knowledge and understanding of "how things work"; your bladder, bowel, reproductive and pelvic floor functions
Respect, confidentiality and professionalism, especially in consideration of the intimate nature of this area of the body
Thorough assessment and explanation within a private and relaxed environment. A typical first session would be 1 hour in order to allow time for questions and to gain an accurate diagnosis.
Encouragement of questions for mutual understanding and co operation in planning and progressing your treatment
Your consent for treatment.
Treatment may involve specific home exercises, manual therapy, bladder or bowel retraining, dietary advice, skin care and product suggestions, education regarding test procedures or surgery preparation and recovery advice.
On occassion, clarification may be needed from your Doctor or referral to another health practitioner may be recommended eg dietician or counsellor.
All of this may require anything from one consultation to several consultations depending on the complexity of the problem(s).
Rebates can be claimed from your private health fund.

Janelle Angel is a physiotherapist of over 30 years experience. She has completed postgraduate
studies in the area of continence and pelvic floor rehabilitation. In 2010 Janelle was awarded the title of Continence
and Womens' Health Physiotherapist by the Australian Physiotherapy Association in recognition of her experience and training.
Janelle has advanced expertise in the assessment and management of continence (bladder and bowel) problems, prolapse, retraining of the pelvic floor muscles, pelvic and sexual pain problems, preparation for and recovery from childbirth and continence related surgery.
Her work is influenced by her background as a yoga teacher. She has also trained in craniosacral and massage therapies as well as various other eastern and western alternative healing modalities.
